In the book Assisted Suicide in Canada: Moral, Legal, and Policy Considerations by Travis Dumsday, a counter argument to the legal precedent for medical assistance in dying (MAID) in Canada is constructed. The main approach Dumsday makes to substantiate his stance is exhibiting the moral and ethical controversy that MAID creates in Canda, and how the Legality of MAID should be overturned. Several types of avenues of data and methodologies are used in the book to support Dumsday’s anti-MAID arguments. Firstly, they develop the historical context of MAID in Canada and attempt to express errors in the original Carter V. Canda supreme court case and how flawed logic and immoral practices corrupted the case, which has led to the expansion of Medically assisted euthanasia in Canada. The author then begins an explanation of the morality and ethical quandary he feels about MAID and how morality should point toward if not a cessation of MAID that a governmental decision to not fund the program.

Janice Mirikitani is a very accomplished poet, who has written a beautiful poem called “Suicide Note”, this poem is about a young Asian American student who has committed suicide in 1987 because she has suffered a lot of problems throughout her life because of her parent’s treatment. Mirikitani describes how the young girl writes this sad letter to her parents because she wants to apologize for them for not being the perfect girl in college. Also the young girl is apologizing to her parents for being a girl not a boy as they want because as she thinks that they would be happy if she is a son. The suicide of Sandra Bland, shook her family and the people that knew her best. The taking of her own life simply did not make any sense. In the past Bland had went through some rough patches, but she had so many things going for herself at that point in her life. She had moved to a new city found a new job and rekindled her relationship with her mother. Suicide was not in the cards for Sandra.

Over the past couple of years’ police brutality has played a great whole in the arrest of African Americans and Caucasian officers. The difference between all of these cases is that this young lady, Sandra Bland, death was eventually ruled a suicide. Ultimately, there still remains questions to why Blands simple traffic violation ever turned into a confrontation. Bland had just moved to Texas in order to get a fresh start on life, she even had a job lined up for herself.

Bronia starts of at the age of nine years old and ends up being the only one out of her family to survive. Bronia along with Mila, Mendek, and Bonzeka are the main characters in this book. The story was about the family and unsuspected new friends and what they experienced long the way.
