However, upon meeting Black Jack, she was more enamored of the idea of the legendary war hero, rather than the guy himself. Victoria Rione was the Co-President of the Callas Republic. She was wary of Black Jack upon first meeting him. She did not like heroes, not even legendary ones. Later on, she softened and realized they needed each other. She was a little lost after the death of Admiral Bloch and that angered her. Once she heard Captain Geary was taking over, she softened because she knew Black Jack was there to have them all. Desjani became Geary’s right hand, leading him when he did not understand a new piece of technology or an improved way of doing something. Even though she was his subordinate, he always treated her with higher standing. Anytime his century-old brain did not comprehend something, Desjani was there to assist him. Her only downfall was she was more infatuated with the idea of Black Jack and his exploits, rather than the man himself. Geary toyed with the idea of bedding her just to prove that he was not the legend she thought he was. They both respect each other and could have possibly explored more of a relationship.
