The “Fostering Sustainability” section of Target’s 2015 Corporate Social Responsibility Report provides an analysis on expanding recycling through education and label packaging. In 2013, Target was the first mass retailer to join the How2Recycle program, a standardized labeling system that clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public (1). The How2Recycle label has been added to Target’s owned-brand packaging, which currently comprises over 1,265 unique products. In comparison, Walmart joined the How2Recycle program in 2015 and are working with suppliers to incorporate the label onto Walmart and Sam’s Club owned-brand packaging (2). In 2016, Georgia-Pacific, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of pulp and
