Rationale: We chose the second text, “Fatal Car Crashes Drop for 16-Year-Olds, Rise for Older Teens?” because it indicates the correlation of car crashes between 16 and 18-year-olds, which differ in numbers. 16-year-old teens’ crashes have decreased, meanwhile, the opposite has happened to young adults, as they have increased over the past 22 years. It shows the need for efforts to educate young drivers on the importance of safe driving drills and practices.
This means teen are more likely to be making a bad decision on the road. Overall the current age where teens are allowed to get their license at shouldn't be allowed because youth are not even mentally stable yet. And they're way too unfit for their age not being able to drive may reduce the teen obesity
If teeenagers do not have enough time behind the wheel of a car, teens are at a higher risk for getting into accidents. Being a teen driver could also impact the cause of death as well. There are many people who want to earn their permit to drive. There are many steps that people have to do before earning their permits. The essential steps to earning a permit requires passing the vision test, and DMV driving test and last getting 50 hours in with a parent or guardian.
The legal age for a driver's licence should be lowered, not raised. Did you know that Teens are four times more likely to die or be injured in a car crash than older people? In New Jersey, a study of deadly crashes did not look specifically at 21-year-olds; they were mixed into a larger group of 20- to 24-year-olds. But the research still found a 10 percent increase in deadly crashes in that group after New Jersey’s tougher graduated driver licensing program was instituted, suggesting that 18-, 19- and 20-year-olds may be waiting out the tough restrictions there as well¨.(¨Source 2¨) This shows that we need not to make the driving age higher. The same people who say the drivers factuallies are high between 15 -20 years old fail to realize that we have least fatal car crashes, fatal multi car crashes, and fatal single car crashes(¨Table 2¨)
I believe this because first of all, if the driving age were to be raised, it would limits teens’ options for the future and or present. Next, it gives teens more independence, and teaches them about responsibility. Lastly teens can transport themselves and get where they need to be. The cons to raising the driving age outweigh the pros. One reason is that not being able to drive at an earlier age limits teens.

“Teen Driver” Essay In America what age group would you consider to be a bad driver? Most people would consider teens to be bad drivers. It has been proven that teens aged sixteen to eighteen are more at risk of reckless driving than people who are older that have more experience. So that gets into the next issue that needs to be addressed. Teenagers have bad driving habits that need to be addressed quickly to fix any and all problems.

As people continue to look down on this growing problem, Nichole Morris, a researcher at the Human First Laboratory at the University of Minnesota, has something to say about it. She is trying to raise awareness about how deadly driving at a young age can be. “The most dangerous two years of your life are between 16 and 17, and the reason for that is driving,” she said. “Cars have gotten safer, roads have gotten safer, but teen drivers have not.” In other words, young drivers are becoming more and more unsafe just because of little experience.
Statistics show that, “ Reaction time is a key thing in driving. the younger you are the faster your reaction time is. witch will decrease the amount of accidents that happen... Teens have better visibility when they are younger than when they are older”(Should Driving Age Be Lowered). Allowing these young teenagers to drive will improve their experience with driving, however, allowing these teenagers to drive at such a young has too many risk in general.
There are new drivers every day from teens to adult and the arguments of raising the driving age limit to 18. In Europe the driving age limit is 18 years old because the government as well as some people think that 16 years old is too young to drive, for the fact of young teens are not mature nor responsible enough to have the privilege of having a driver’s license. Many people believe that just because one young teen got into an accident, that all teens will get into an accident once they begin driving. Not everyone is the same, everyone has their own level of responsibility and maturity. Although, some teens have a high portion of an accident rate within a few month/years of getting their driver’s license, they have to start off somewhere.
As the number of fatalities caused by driving teenagers continues to increase, many people have been asking, “Should the legal driving age be increased?” However, this should not be the case. Instead of asking whether or not the driving age should be increased, it would be better to adapt to the current driving age and encourage safer driving. Some people suggest that biology is to blame for the fatal results of teenagers’ driving. In Robert Davis’s article “Is 16 Too Young to Drive a Car?”, he stated, “The weak link: what’s called “the executive branch” of the teen brain - the part that weighs risks, makes judgements and controls impulsive behavior,” (Davis, paragraph 3).
The increasing of the driving age to 18 will guarantee less crash on the road. They have more experience on the road and most likely have more responsibility. What I found in the first article it told me that a 16 year old's brain is less developed than a 18 year old. Evidences shows that a 16 year old's brain is far less developed that a 18 year brain. That means that a 16 year old wouldn’t think about consequences if they do this.
Our lives are unbelievably valuable so we should do everything rational to avoid deaths. Nowadays, teenagers are specifically dangerous due to their recklessness and they are the ones that are more likely to commit car accidents. Delaying when they get their driver’s license, the roads will be more secure. If the age of driving is increased, the amount of car crashes will decrease. For instance, teens think that they’re fearless, which is why they take silly risks unlike mature drivers.
