In “Teenagers and Their Need for The Spotlight,” originally published in 2013 by Idaho State Journal, journalist Michael H. O’Donnell contends that the constant need for attention that teenagers crave coupled with their impulsive behavior produces disastrous results. O’Donnell claims that teenagers would do anything to receive recognition from not only their peers, but the public, even going as far as murdering someone for publicity. He further argues that “... the murder case of Cassie Jo [serves as an example], where teenagers who wish for recognition commit an action out of stupidity” consequently leading to the death of one of their closest friends.
