Attracting applicants can sometimes be very competitive between different colleges and universities: institutions want to attract the best and brightest students to attend their school and bolster their numbers. Yale was founded in 1701 and since then has been acknowledged as one of America’s premier institutions for higher learning. Located in New Haven, Connecticut, Yale can sometimes be seen as an exclusive club where it is near impossible to be accepted. As with many of the other Ivy League schools, Yale has often been accused of being homogenous and lacking diversity. They show the students living their daily lives—hanging out in their room, going to the dining hall, and even exercising. Students do enjoy seeing figures and facts of a successful college, but they more than likely cannot connect as well with numbers as they can with scenes of a student’s daily life. By omitting the facts and just showing a group of happy students, Yale is acknowledging that their name speaks for itself in terms of academics, but they want students to matriculate for more than just the prestige.
