The Outsiders The outsiders is an outstanding book. Did you ever take the time and actually read the book? It is a very expensive book and very violent. There are the three Curtis brothers, Dally, Ponyboy and Sodapop! There are two specific groups to separate people in the state of Oklahoma. There were the Socs and the Greasers the Socs were very mean to the graser and thought that they owned the entire town and controlled everything, but they didn't. They always fought and there was conflict and so many violents. The Curtis brothers didn’t get the opportunity to have parents while growing up. They had died in a car accident, but the 3 brothers never got split up! Ponyboy is the youngest, than Sodapop and Darry is the oldest. Darry had to drop out of school to take care of his 2 little brothers after his parents had died. Darry is 20 years old, he is still a kid himself. They were all known as Greasers, Greasers were known for there all greased hair. The Socs are basically the higher class, the graser weren't poor but they weren't rich either. They were stable and Darry was doing a really good job of taking care of those kids. Anyway, the Socs short for Socials were rich and they took that for granted! Think about it, their actions. For example, Bob is dead (one of the socs) because of other Socs actions. “Dally informs them that Cherry has said that she is willing to testify that the Socs were drunk that night and that Johnny acted only in self-defense”, (86 S.E. Hinton). You can’t control your actions when you are drunk but they did get drunk and they choose to,that's fine but you just murdered somebody ininsent. “ Cherry’s stance gives Johnny the hope he needs, and he announces that they are going to turn themselves into the police,” (86-87, S.E. Hinton). At least they are taking responsibility for their actions. Everyone makes mistakes but this is a huge one, no one should be murdered because someone is
