One must find the influence and the aid of others to overcome challenges. The movie and book “Wonder” directed Stephen Chobosky by composed by R.J Palacio is a story about a boy named August Pullman who has a face deformity called Treacher Collins Syndrome. This causes his face to be irregular and look different compared to others. Auggie is starting his first day of school after being home school by his mother. As Auggie walked in the school, people were walking away and avoiding being near him. Furthermore, in “Freedom writes” composed by Richard LaGravenese a teacher named Erin Gruwell is attempting to help a class of distressed students in a high school who suffers from racism and gang violence. In this scene, we also get a close up of him walking through the hallways. In this scene, he has a sad expression on his face as kids stare and avoid being near him. This again shows us he need the encouragement from himself to work through school. Auggie starts to accept his looks when the girl and others start to sit and be friends with him. Auggie stopped hiding from others and is exposed to everyone in the school. Auggie makes friends such as Jack Will, Julian Albans and Summer Dawson. The trailer used a montage to express how much Auggie has accepted himself and even added in the line at the end saying, “Dude this is after plastic surgery, it takes a lot to look this good”. This shows us that the students don’t have the confidence in themselves to change by themselves. A Medium shot was used in this scene to show the expression on both Erin and the student. In another scene come together to dance and have fun. In the trailer a montage is also used to show change such as the scene where the students are all dancing, the students are dancing with a song in the background saying “I have a dream, I got a dream, that one day, we gonna work it out out out” this song shows us that the students have united together and also refers to Martin Luther King Jr’s Speech “I Have A Dream” this shows us that both having a good mindset and having a good influence from others can help overcome
