The setting of the story is at Daly City, California. Some of the characters from the story are David’s parents: Stephan Joseph, his father, Catherine Roerva, his mother, Mr.Hansen(principal at dave’s school), Miss Moss(dave’s math teacher), Mr.Ziegler(dave’s 5th grade teacher),Miss Wood(is one of dave’s teacher) and his four brothers. Dave lives with his mother,four brothers and his father.

He had to learn to play his mother's games in order to stay alive, as she no longer considered him apart of the family. I think the Circle’s concept and use of TruYouevokes a wonder in the reader because the system’s operations almost seem too good to be true. The ability to have one password and login for everything would be extremely helpful for me personally. I immediately thought of credit card hacking, like the large scale Target controversy, when I read about the hacking that TruYou Sarah ChristopherUNIV 1150supposedly eliminated. In the article “A Year Later” the author Kevin Cullen uses diction and descriptive details to illustrate how he believes we need to take action against bullying. He does this by selecting specific words that cause the reader to feel different emotions, choosing strong words to allow the reader to have a better understanding, and using descriptive words that cause the reader to feel negative emotions towards bullying. An example of how the author uses diction to portray his perspective on the matter can be found where Cullen described Phoebe being “hounded to the grave” by her classmates (Cullen 1). The author uses the word “hounded” to portray the fact that she was being forced to kill herself from the pressure that the constant bullying caused.
