The book I have chosen to write about is “The Dark Night” by Christine Feehan. The story takes place in Austria where Joie Sanders who works as a bodyguard and has psychic powers was shot protecting Senator Thomas Goodvine and his wife Thelma Goodvine.Taken to the hospital where she uses her astral projection to travel around while her body stays to heal in the hospital, she goes in a cave in the Carpathian forest where she encounters an immortal Carpathian hunter named Traian laying on the ground healing his injures that he got from fighting an enemy vampire. There she and Traian talk about their injuries and flirt with one another only for the nurse to address her wound causing her to leave. The article explains that when loved ones are put in a dangerous situation people get hysterical strength(when in high stressed situations the body is able to tap into unnatural strength) that they use in order to save or help those trapped or in danger. The article’s main point is how we use adrenaline as strength in order to protect loved ones when they are put in danger. When using hysterical strength they have the inability to feel any pain also known as the “theory of analgesia”. So in when you see your loved one your body doesn’t feel any stress or pain, you only have one thought and it’s that you are going to do what needs to be
