The myth that the only proper way to raise a child is with a mother and father is not a reality and studies have shown that children grow up with little differences “They reevaluated 21 psychological studies conducted between 1981 and 1998, which found that children raised by the same-sex parents were no different from those reared by heterosexual parents” (Zinn, Eitzen, Wells, 2016, pg. 196). Just because a boy is raised by gay dad’s does not mean he will turn out any different. The second myth is that a son raised by gay dad’s will turn out gay himself. This myth is not a reality because children that are raised by two gay dads are just as likely to turn out gay as their peers. They are only more accepting of the idea of being gay because of their fathers (Adoptions, 2017). The last myth is that a son with gay dads will grow up to have social or developmental problems. This is also not realities because there mental and emotional health is the same as other children being raised by heterosexual parents. (Zinn, Eitzen, Wells, 2016, pg. 196). Overall, there are little difference between being raised by two dads compared to any heterosexual parenting. These myths are not realities and it is important that people understand that two dads’ raising a son can be a strong and healthy relationship just like any other
