The article The End of the Henrietta Lacks Sage? From the Smithsonian magazine was written by Rachel Nuwer in 2013. The Smithsonian is a magazine that provides an outlook on the major topics in history, science art, popular culture and innovation all in one. This certain article dealing with science is well written. Authors should use critical thinking when writing magazine articles, but some do not. Nuwer was successful with informing readers writing this article about Lacks was to inform on what happened in the timeline of 1950 until the current time. Stating that the Lacks family and researches came to an agreement with how they wanted to be recognized and paid for all the research done on Henrietta and themselves. Nuwer assuming the readers did not know anything about the Lacks cells and research she gave a specific and detailed timeline of the story. She assumed wrong in the sense of not knowing what kind of audience she would get because some of her readers could just be looking up more articles on the Lacks after reading Rebecca Skloots book. An implication would be that people should be careful when agreeing or signing something before reading it, because they could be taken advantage of like the Lacks were. Nuwer is she has done her research on the Lacks family and most likely read the book written by Rebecca Skloot. Two expert points of view were quoted the U.S. National Institutes of Health and The University of Washington correctly.
