What is most people’s favorite kind of food? Junk food has been the answer to a lot of obesity problems. “Some astonishing facts that I came across are one in three adults are considered clinically obese, along with one in five kids, and 24 million Americans are afflicted by type 2 diabetes.” That’s often cause by poor diet, with another 79 million people having pre-diabetes. Junk food is cheap, fast, and convenient at all times, everyone experiences binge eating junk food one time or another. In the article, “The Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food” by Michael Moss, he tries to figure out how to deal with the emerging obesity epidemic. Moss became interested with the topic while being a reporter. He uses many good points appealing to ethos, logos, and pathos. …show more content…

When working with junk food, they think of “stomach share” which is the amount of digestive space that any one company’s brand can grab from the competition. Some processed food has a hidden power. They make them to make people feel hungry still, even when they just got done eating a whole bunch of junk food. They have the ability to make you want more or to move onto something else to eat. Those companies have made the greatest health concerns and it only keeps getting worse. The industry soon realized that obesity is a huge issue and their products could be a reason behind obesity. They then wanted to come up with a solution. Their solution was to not use as much sugar or fat but the solution got denied. The company was more worried about selling the products than people worried about obesity. They didn’t see it as big of a deal as everyone else sees it. “The public and the food companies have known for decades now that sugary, salty, fatty foods are not good for us in the quantities that we consume them,” but we still don’t change our eating habits
