Jeannette Walls lived in various settings throughout the time in which we have read so far. Some including, Phoenix, where, she was born. Las Vegas, where they had to flee quickly because her dad Rex was caught up in his scheme with gambling. Jeanette also lived in Blythe, where she was followed home from school one day and beat up by 6 mexican girls. Those girl who also beat up her brother Brian, when he tried to help her the next day. Jeanette had to face tremendous troubles while growing up. Each one hopefully making her stronger. Her time in Battle Mountain, hopefully helped her realize she didn't want to be in that position anymore. Being the desert it did not rain very much. On the way to Battle Mountain, the family took a U-Haul loaded with their belongings, and the kids were in the back with them, while Rex, and Rose Mary were in the front. The back doors to the U-Haul were unlocked and swinging wide open. Brian tried to grabbed the doors, but Jeanette thought that Brian would try to escape. The kids tried banging on the side but their parents couldn't hear them. Eventually Rex stopped and came back to see what was going on. He was angry at that point. The point I am trying to convey is although Battle Mountain started out rough, for jeanette it turns out to be a pretty good
