After completing a book, have you ever said to yourself “Wow, I would never be able to look at the world the same anymore?” All the Presidents’ Bankers: The Hidden Alliances That Drive American Power by Nomi Prins does that. All the Presidents’ Bankers: The Hidden Alliances That Drive American Power by Nomi Prins changed my view on banks and the United States Dollar. I never thought Banks would have a big influence on politics to the point where they can determine the outcome of the future. After reading the book, I believe Prins did an excellent job explaining how banks influence politics and thus can control the future in multiple ways. Ever since the start of the book, Prins has always followed a timeline. History in itself is something …show more content…

What do I mean by standalone from the book? I mean if you open the book without any prior knowledge and go to any section and read it, you would understand what is going during that time period. For example, Prins states “The legendary action that J.P Morgan had undertaken to “save the markets” more than two decades earlier with a similar group of bankers was foremost in everyone’s mind. Expectations and hopes ran high for a repeat performance.”(Prins 97) then later on in the same section explain how these bankers understood and knew of the situation at hand by stating “These 1920s bankers weren’t deer caught in the headlights of market mayhem. The first major problem with history books in general is the length of the book, which Prins is no exception too. As I was reading the book, I was wondering how long each chapter is going to take, where sometimes I would flip to the end to count how many pages I had left. If I was writing this book, I would make it into a bullet style book with only who, what, when, where and why in a concise matter. For example, I can make this quote into a couple words “When Jimmy Carter took office on January 20, 1977, He inherited an agitated country on economic thin ice. In his inaugural speech, Carter was requisitely humble. He told the nation that “your strength can compensate for my weakness, and your wisdom can help to minimize my mistakes.”(Prins 301). I would paraphrase that as Who: Jimmy Carter, What: Inaugural speech, When: January 20, 1977, Where: White House, Capitol Hill, Why: Speak to the nation about the current issue at hand. Me doing this, I can probably shorten Prins book from 423 pages to about 100. If anybody wanted to learn more they can go online and read it and come back because the book is so
