I read the book True Legend by Mike Lupica. To keep a book alive and interesting authors use three different character types. Those character types are static, dynamic, and stereotype. Mike Lupica did a very good job at keeping the reader focused. Drew was the dynamic character because he had some important decisions that had a big impact on what would happen.
James McBride is the son of Ruth McBride, and he tells the story of how he struggled to find out his racial identity through his Mom who wouldn’t tell him. James is a 15 year old boy and I’d say that his health is going pretty bad since he smokes and drinks. James was born in Brooklyn, New York to Dennis and Ruth McBride, his father deceased before he was born. His mother later married a man names Hunter Jordan and they added 4 for kids to the 8 she already had.
In the book Black Elk Speaks the main character Black Elk started to tell his life story to the John G. Neihardt. Black Elk spoke of his early life and how “The Grandfathers” spoke to him telling him things like, take courage and he now has a cup that gives life. He then goes on and talks about his first major accomplishment which was killing a buffalo at the age of ten. Some of his childhood stories were told too. When he and other kids would play they would do things like, cut off the uppermost portion of a flagpole which resulted in Redcloud talking peace into the soldiers with words of wisdom.
The author starts out stating that not much remains of Hugh Glass because after all, the only known direct source from Hugh Glass himself is a single letter. Because of this, not much is known about him, which the author states is why he chose him. No one knows of his opinions or his appearance. The only thing the author and other historians can definitely know for sure is that he had phenomenal survival skills. Hugh Glass was mauled by a female grizzly bear in the summer of 1823.
Facts William E. Story, Sr. (uncle) promised to pay his nephew, William E. Story II $5,000 if he refrained from drinking, smoking, swearing, and playing cards or billiards for money until he reached 21 years old. Although, it was legal to drinking and play cards for money during the late 1860 's; the nephew agreed and completed his part of the bargain. The nephew also wrote a letter to his uncle about the agreement. The uncle replied and told him the money would include interest under the terms and conditions of the letter. Twelve years later, the uncle died without paying his nephew any of the $5,000 with interest.
The “legends” referred to in the title of the book When the Legends Die by Hal Borland and what happens to them is the center of the plot. The “legends” are the old ways. For example Bear’s Brother and Tom Black Bull’s hair, braids, and Bear’s Brother and Tom Black Bull’s clothes, not to mention all of the songs and chants and how he treats nature. These “legends” or traditions die as the book goes along. It is easy to tell by his name.
I liked the novel Legend by Marie Lu because it takes place in a futuristic setting where the united states was gone and it's been divided into two different parties colonists and the republic the colonists are trying to bring the nation back together. No one knows that there once was a United States of America, all evedice that there ever once was destroyed. This goes far back not even parents,or grand parents know about the untied states. I like how the story talks throught two character point of views, and it can be compared to a romo and Juliet story. At first they were both differet

Both of their motives to fight harder, love longer, and remember more deeply, are driven from the paramount love they have for their families. The major themes and personalities of the book are best portrayed in chapter 4 In this chapter, June’s relentless desire to get revenge for her brother’s murder is introduced through Metias’ death.
What happens when humour is combined to talk about difficult subjects in novels? In order to address the severe problem of stereotypes and bring to light that Indigenous people face, these two authors: Thomas King and Drew Hayden Taylor use a unique type of humour. Instead of ignoring unsettling topics, they use humour as a tool to talk about these biases and bring to light these issues. Their work acknowledges the strength of humour and its ability to challenge biases and stereotypes.
