These three problematic subjects were very prevalent in history. This TV show script was written by the author during the Red Scare in order to criticize the condition of the government at that time. The History Channel contends in an article, “As the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States intensified in the late 1940s and early 1950s, hysteria over the perceived threat posed by Communists in the U.S. became known as the Red Scare. … support for free speech and other liberties eroded significantly. This trend was symbolized by the 1951 U.S. Supreme Court ruling … which said that the free-speech rights of accused Communists could be restricted because their actions presented a clear and present danger to the government. Americans also felt the effects of the Red Scare on a personal level, and thousands of alleged communists sympathizers saw their lives disrupted” (“Red Scare – Cold War”). Even though the government, at that time, was working so assiduously to maintain civil rights, they, in turn, took away many citizens’ freedoms during the process.
