In the book The Most Powerful Idea in the World, Matthew Boulton offers James Watt advice, since he was Watt’s new partner. Matthew Boulton played an essential part in the success of the steam engine. Boulton was an English manufacturer who later became partners with James Watt. Boulton's career in engineering started in 1759 when he inherited his family’s toy making business. He used the money he had made and bought a bigger piece of land on which he planned to expand his business. Through this business, Bolton was able to expand his knowledge about mechanical engineering and was introduced to Watt. Boulton decided he wanted to help finance Watt and offer him assistance in his process of constructing the steam engine.
