The article “Should we blame the parents of the Nevada School Shooter” written by “Lisa Belkin” is about a child who had the capability of murdering three people. The public blamed the way parents pf the childhad brought up their children. Belkin has Something that shocked me while reading this article was the negative impact of a twelve year old boy who had access to a gun. In the first sentence of the article, “Parents of the 12-year-old shooter might be charged with allowing the boy access to the Ruger 9mm semiautomatic weapon that he brought from home.” It’s upsetting when the society first pulls a finger at the parents, but not the child. The writer of this article quoted “We also cannot believe the parents did not know, because, rather …show more content…
Apparently he was bullied in school. He had a speech disorder, which prevented other students in calling him inappropriate names like “gay, stupid, or retard.” One time in school he was ridiculed of wetting his pants, after some students’ poured water on him. In my opinion there are people in New Zealand who don’t think twice before they say or do something. They think it’s a joke to bully people and they don’t think about the consequences of going too far. What we can do to build a better community is to start been more alert and defensive about these issues. Because when we start defending and supporting victims, then the offenders don’t stand a chance. Also I strongly consider that leaving your guns hanging around for children and teens to take would be a very severe consequence. Belkin yet again shared her insights “I have been very public about my disagreement with those who would have guns in homes with children, and even going so far as to call it lax parenting.” In the article it mentioned about a boy named Michael Carneal, a fourteen year old who did unspeakable things. Michael Carneal, was a 14-year-old who killed three girls at a prayer meeting in West Paducah. He’d figured out how to open the lock on the gun safe. When he went to ride his bike during Thanksgiving dinner he was actually stealing more guns from a neighbour though he was back in time to hug his visiting grandparent’s good-bye. It’s amazing how there are two faced people out in this world. Is it true that Jose Ryes had written essays about shooting up the school? Or that he was downloading porn on the school computer and selling it to classmates. Belkin stated that “All teenagers hide things, and if they are doing something evil, then they will work even harder to hide it.” I fully recommend to all parents out there, to being more alert with your children. If you believe that something is amiss with your
