The Case:
There are cases that could be quite simple to determine, but due to insufficient know-how and equipment, various parts of the case are left unsolved, or investigated in a rush with the aim to perhaps prevent case backlog. While backlog is a huge impediment to the judicial system, justice is in fact fundamental and thus more important. This case involves a murder charge that might have been overlooked due to unexplainable ineptness of the investigators who failed to handle things in the right manner. Pam Shelly and Ronnie Hendrick had an unhealthy relationship which might have been abusive. Pam dies in mysterious circumstances, of a bullet wound. However, by the time the EMS and police arrived, a whole hour had elapsed since the shooting. However, all the accounts were untrue. Later investigations show that Pam had neither suffered depression nor was her family suicidal. Her sister had never committed suicide. The ME established that the gunshot created a contact wound on her right temple travelling front to back, up and towards the left, which proved the stories that she had heard about suicide. All this time that Hendrick was ‘lost’, he had taken for South Dakota and during his stay there, he was convicted with felony and served penitentiary. Carl also discovered that Hendrick was abusive of women and was an alcoholic. He convinced Hendrick to take the polygraph test, which he failed; depicting falsehood in telling about the account on Pam’s death. After the test, Hendrick admits having lied about where he was at the time of Pam’s death but maintains that it was a suicide. This new account is a huge turnaround in the case since he created the possibility of belief that the whole judgment was based on falsehood. Carl dug for more information from all participants in the case, including Pam’s children. Bowen also brings into the picture other investigators with a great resume, such as Kelly Seigler who had an impeccable record of successful high profile prosecutions and Yolanda McClary alongside Hollywood video production teams.
