Imagine waking up as soon as the sun peeks over the hills and the sole purpose each day for you is to walk miles upon miles to fetch water your family and neighbors. You don’t even have a choice, it’s the only way to survive in the flaming desert. The text, “The Plight Of Afghanistan's Child Water Carrier” by Sayeaed Jan Sabwoon and the video “for Afghan kids, Hauling Water is a Living”- Zarif Nazar are both detailed children carrying water and delivering them to their neighbors, then their families. The author portrayal in “the Plight of Afghanistan’s Water Carriers” and the video “For Afghan Kid, Hauling water is a Living” have many similarities and differences. The text states, “By the time school has let out elsewhere in Kabul, the children will have ferried enough water uphill to compensate for the municipal pipes that don't deliver water to their hillside homes.” Similarity, the videos shows in subtitles, a boy named Mirawas says, “ We have nobody at home who earns money. Everything is expansive. Because of that, i left school and started working with my donkey.” These two quotes shows the readers the problem both sources are presenting, children can’t going to school if they want to survive. Both resources also set similar moods, they both make us sympathy for the children in Afghanistan. Both the text and the video describe the kid’s life and how long the kids have to walk to get water. The text says, “But they don’t go to class. Instead, they go and fetch water-- over and over again-- until long after the school day is done” This shows the mood set in the text, and the mood in the video was very similar. Lastly, both the text and the video show how the citizens of Afghanistan care about this issue, they want the kids to be educated and go to school
