An allusion that is present is Marvel Comics and its characters. When the poem says, “Optic blasts are awesome, but adamantium claws are better,” It indirectly references Cyclops and the Wolverine from Marvel. Some examples of personification are “Complexity increases, stacked more and more, not less”; “Related concepts bloom within, so quickly they do roll on”; and “the narrative gets wilted!” Complexity cannot physically stack itself more and more, concepts can’t bloom and roll on quickly, and lastly, a narrative cannot get wilted. Another figure of speech that is in this poem is hyperbole. The author wrote, “We dance all night; it was divine.” This is an example of a hyperbole as just dancing all night will not make someone feel like it was Godly. However this could be used could be used to convey dramatic irony. For example, the poem could be structured as a love poem, but its real meaning could be the opposite. Therefore, the structure is usually representative of the mood of the poem, and how the reader is supposed to perceive it. If the structure is loose, the reader might get the impression that the narrator or subject of the poem is free, easy going, or happy. If it is rigid, it could bring to mind ideas of control or balance.
