In this episode, there were many instances where the camera was looking up at the scene from an angle. Since this is Luffy’s memory and at this time he was just a boy, the camera position could be trying to portray his point of view. At the very beginning of the episode there were music that attempted to create an anticipating feeling. The camera still shows many of the scene from an angle up. In this episode when the camera focuses on a character, the edges of the camera view fades or has a lighter shade. I believe this helps to center the audience’s attention on the character. This intertextuality gives a lot of emotion to this plot if the viewer is familiar with the story of Hachiko.
The cameras in this episode follows the characters point of view a lot. For example, the camera would show a shot of the character looking straight at us or something and then follow the view to where the character is looking.
As with most anime and cartoon, the diegetic sounds help to make the scene and action seem more realistic. For example, when the dog was moving forward with an angry expression there was a sliding sound. This help add to feeling of the scene. It added another factor to show that viewer that the dog is angry and ready to attack.
This episode also plays with the trope of the hero taking a deadly attack and survive it like it was nothing. For example, when the big Loin Richie attack Luffy, he was expected to die or at least be severely injure. However, he was complete okay and had no
