On October 9, 1806, Joseph Bird Joquips, a 70 year old Native Indian from the Mohegan Tribe, petitioned the State of Connecticut General Assembly for a portion of the land in Connecticut that was divided among Natives in the Mohegan tribe. He emphasized his devout military career that began in 1758 during the Seven Years’ War to convince members of the General Assembly to allot him a portion of land that belonged to the Mohegan Indians. While Joquips had already rightfully possessed a piece of the land because he had lived on it prior to European presence, the Europeans did not recognize his authority to the land; and thus, forcibly seized control of Native lands so that they could distribute it as they saw fit. It was not important for Joquips to possess a piece of land, but to have the Europeans recognize that the land belong to him. Thus, this petition represented Joquips manipulation of the European system to secure a piece of his tribe’s land with hopes to collect the land for the Mohegan tribe piece by piece.

The French and Indian War altered the relations of the American Colonies and Britain through political, economic, and geographical issues. At the start of the French and Indian War the French owned a big majority of land but the during the war the French lost their land to the English. The Treaty of Paris in 1763 gave the English, the French land of North America (Doc A).
Relations with the Native’s and the English had been tense since the beginning, because the Pequot were gaining control of the Connecticut River Valley so they can have more power. This of many were reasons that The Pequot War started. The Pequot war was an armed conflict the Pequot tribe and an alliance of the English Colonists of the Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth and Saybrook colonies . The English had allies that helped them win the war.
When colonists first arrived they received help from the Powhatan by trading goods with them, but their differences between them were bound to cause trouble. More colonists arrived, which demanded more and more land. John Rolfe attempted to improve their relationship by marrying Chief Powhatans daughter in 1614. It worked temporarily, and the Powhatans helped the colonists. The tobacco plantations kept demanding more and more land.
The old time people of the powhatans had lived in the eastern Virginia for thousands of years. The Powhatans hunted and fished with fish and shellfish. Everyone paid taxes like deerskin, shell beads, copper or corn to their local chief. In return the chief would give them powhatan`s protection.
Early relationship between both colonies was characterized by fascination and altruism; however, this relationship was superseded with enmity. In Jamestown, the settlers believed that the Americans were adept people living in highly developed societies. The Indians' achievement, of developing an intricate civilization, made colonization feasible in English ocular perceivers. The settlers kenned how reliant they would be on native crops for their pabulum. On the other hand, Powhatan and his men optically discerned the incipient English settlement as great opportunity for them to exploit.
The Battle of Hastings, October 1066 William had assembled a huge invasion fleet. This may have initially been gathered on the River Dives and at St Valery but by 25 September it was moored at St Valery waiting for a southerly or easterly wind. In the last week of September William got that wind, and William gave the signal for his fleet to set sail. Daniel “Silver Star”, states how in time the Powhatan and English colonists began to break apart. It also explains how John Smith claimed and wrote false things about Wahunsenaca and the Powhatan tribe in general. As I stated above, the novel claims that after time passed by the Powhatan and English colonists began to separate. The authors claim this happened because the English colonists began to demand food in aggressive and violent ways, and the Powhatan’s started to see how the English colonists were very lazy and didn’t want to work.
