Slowly, as the trial carried on Simpson’s reputation began to deteriorate. People across the country started referring to him as a murderer or wife beater rather than admiring him for his athletic achievements. His temper could no longer hide behind closed doors, and it ultimately ruined everything he had going for him in his career. At the end of the trial, the verdict came back as not guilty. With the overwhelming evidence, many people no longer trusted, or admired Simpson and failed to see the man he once had been. He lost his partnership with Hertz, his house on Rockingham, his Heisman trophy and more memorabilia that had belonged to him. For many years he tried to track his belongings and ended up being put in jail in 2008 for kidnapping
