Book Report A Stolen Life The Stolen Life is a memoir written by Jaycee Dugard. This story was published July 12, 2011. This book is a New York Times Best Seller and also was nominated for Goodreads Choice Awards Best Memoir & Autobiography. It takes place in the state of California in the year of 1991. The main character of the story is Jaycee Dugard. Some other important characters in this story are Phillip Garrido and Nancy Garrido. This story is based on Jaycee Dugard and how she spent her life most of her life. Jaycee was a average eleven year old girl with a normal life. Through out the book Jaycee wrote in a journal she hid from Phillip so she would remember things if she ever escaped. She recorded all the things she did, her dreams for the future and places she would go one day. Jaycee thought it was time for her kids to go to school to get an education. But Phillip thought it would be unhealthy for the kids to be exposed to the world. So he bought a computer and let her print out worksheets for them so they could get an education. He also bought learning software that the kids could go on. Phillip started a business called printing for less. It was a graphic design company. Jaycee would help him with his company sometimes She could have looked up her mother but Phillip scared her by telling her the computer monitored everything she did. The company didn't go that well.
