The title of the book is acquired from the idea of the talks professers at Carnegie Mellon give, "to offer reflections on their personal and professional journeys." Which is passed along to their students in one final lecture as known as " Journeys." Randy decides it is important that he give one final lecture, once he learns that his cancer is terminal. The book becomes his autobiography focused on life lessons that Randy has learned from his past.The life lessons he spoke about were to dream big, show gratitude, never give up, tell the truth, and many other things.
