A little bit later on in this chapter Walter’s biological father moved to Harlem, New York where he lived. Hint: Most people call Walter, Walter Dean because, he considers the Dean’s to be his real family. A few paragraphs later on Walter meets his uncle Lee which apparently has been in jail longer than Walter’s been alive. Walter noticed how his uncle talked out of the side of his mouth and Walter caught on to doing this very quickly. The reason Walter’s uncle Lee done this is because when you’re in jail you can’t
Walter was also a very good football player for Yale University during his time there. When he first started playing, he was a 156 pound halfback that nobody took seriously, that changed quickly. Walter
Walter had several family members that lived in his house. His father was now raising him and six children. On page three, Walter talks about his two step sisters from another marriage named Geraldine and Viola. His family also included a brother named George. Bad
Walter was born July 15, 1954 in Columbia, Mississippi. He had one brother named Edward Charles, a sister named Pam, mother Alyne, and father Peter. As a newborn he was called Chubba but as he got older he was Bubba because he got skinny. One problem as a boy for walter was that his father, Peter, would get drunk a lot but the kids thought it was the “fun” side of him until they would lied trying to cover for someone which would result in them all getting spanked.
The last reason why Walter is rude and disrespectful to his family is when mama came looking for him and found his at the local bar. She sat down with his and starting talking to him about everything like his life, how he has a good life and what kind of changes that need to be made. Once mama starting talking about money doesn't matter Walter totally disagrees with her. Mama: Son--how come you talk so much `about
In the book, He gives us information about his family members, and school problems He says in the book, “ I do not know who my mother was, but I know that she died when I was only a toddler. ”He tells the readers that he is adopted by this father’s first marriage, her name is Florence Brown Dean. Walter tells the readers that his adopted mother’s family, whom was white, did not like her married to a black man. During this time they were still going through segregation. Walter grew up with 3 siblings in one little apartment.
In the beginning Walter is basically perceived as a jerk-he doesn’t seem to get along with anyone, not even his own family. His character likes to turn discussions into fights, make rude comments to his wife, and act all around immature. A part that accurately shows the way Walter conducts himself is when he is arguing with Ruth and says “Man say: I got to change my life , I'm choking to death, baby! And his woman say- Your eggs is getting cold!”
Walter thought that everything was well although something had gone horribly wrong. One of his partners he was working with for the liquor store named Willy Harrison had taken the money and ran off with it. He betrayed the trust Walter Lee and Bobo had for him “What’s the matter with you, Walter! When a cat take off with your money he don’t leave you no road maps!”(Hansberry 128). When Mama finds out her son had used Beneatha’s schooling fund and lost the rest of the insurance money she becomes angry with Walter “ You mean… your sister’s school money… you used that too… Walter?”(Hansberry 129).
Caroline offered to lent him money, but he would have to repay her the next day. Walter politely declined her offer multiply times, but he never said no, he just kept on shaking his head. Scout had to tell Miss. Caroline the reason behind Walter refusing this. Also when Scout was beating him up for getting her in trouble, he never tried to fight back, which is a trait that most adults need in life (26-31).
Walter Younger influences the plot and its development in a defective way due to him only thinking about himself. Walter ruins his family’s happiness and pushes them away because he does not get what he wants. For example “Who’s fighting with you? Who even cares about
Walter is the ”man of the house” and the main man in the book, and with this he shows us the most toxic masculinity and what the roles of a man are viewed as. He has a certain view on women, even his wife, and does not truly respect them. He still believes he has a right to the money just because he is the only man in the house and is the only one who can make a good decision with the money. While talking to his son about a business deal he was going to make and how it was going to change their lives, he said, “... secretaries getting things wrong the way they do…”
Walter feels his job is more than unsatisfying, and can not make Mama understand, since her simplistic views are just like Ruths. In spite of his personal inadequacies with his job fulfillment, Walter shines in the end of the story with understanding and growth of his own fathers not so wonderful job. Walter seems to be reflecting on his own status as a
Walter has completely changed since season one. In previous seasons he wouldn’t have had the courage to talk back to a person holding a gun to him. To get people on his side, he knows that he has to take drastic measure to make sure that everything goes as he planned. This new Walter shows the audience how a good and average person could turn into a manipulative and dangerous criminal in the drug dealing
Walter dealt with a hardship in his live as well. Walter was faced with racial discrimination. He wanted to have money to be able to to what he wants, follow his dreams. The only problem is that he didn 't have a high paying job. Your probably thinking to yourself why doesn 't he just get another job.
Especially towards his family. “Oh, Walter…(Softly) Honey, why can’t you stop fighting me? WALTER (Without thinking) - Who’s fighting you? Who even cares about you?” Walter was also very stressed and angry about his current situation.
