The article “Two Years is better than four” is written by Liz Addison. She claims that community college matters, unlike Mr. Perlstein who thinks that college must come to an end. Addison expressed her view that the community college also has significant importance in comparison with the university. Besides, she also mentioned that community colleges do not receive the attention and admission from the education system “College as America used to understand it is coming to an end” (Addison 211). She reminds us that no matter what path we take after high school, community college is always an option, and for some students, an option greatly appreciated but students are not fortunate to see that. Liz Addison uses a lot of techniques such as the use of supporting details. I believe that dreams and goals can be achieved despite the fancy high-level colleges. For example two of my friends goes to CSN community college and we are taking the same general courses but still i pay three times more than what they pay. Students could get the same education with less money. In her opinion, community colleges do not receive the acknowledgement and appreciation that they deserve. Liz Addison points out an example of an article in the New York Times. It describes “a college application essay workshop for low-income students” (Addison 213). Students attend or are misguided into the wrong universities and end up dropping out because they were not aware of the equal affordable opportunities.
