Veronica Ross’s book “Divergent” is based on five different factions Abnegation, Candor, Dauntless, Erudite, and Amity. Then there’s Divergent someone who’s all five. Divergent is something a lot of people would want to be because you’ll be able to tell when you’re in a simulation. The word Divergent means that you’re all smart, brave, kind, selfless, and honest. It just means that it’s someone that can be all at once. They don’t just fit into one faction they fit into all of them. Most Divergent are born in Abnegation. It might be fearful to be divergent, because you don’t know what you really are. There isn’t a lot of divergent so you might feel alone. In the beginning of the book Beatrice didn’t want to be Divergent because she thought that being Divergent was a bad thing because no one ever talked about Divergent people. She was worried that being Divergent wasn’t going to get her anywhere in life. When Beatrice talked to her mom about being Dauntless she got scared because her mom was telling her to not tell anyone what she is not even her friends because it was dangerous. “’….Stay in the middle of the pack, no matter what you do. Don’t draw attention to yourself. Do you understand?”’(Roth 187) Beatrice starts to notice that Four is Divergent too. Knowing that Four was Divergent made it easier for Beatrice to accept what she was. Four also helped Beatrice understand that it was okay to be different, and that it was okay to be Divergent. When Beatrice was fighting after her mother died she realized that she could be both Brave and Kind. Beatrice accepts that she is dauntless because she knows when the simulations are happening. Unlike the Dauntless Beatrice was able to break the glass because she is Dauntless. “Simulation. This is a simulation.
