In the video, Washington Crossing the Delaware, Harry Laver discusses the crossing of the Delaware River and the Battle of Trenton on Christmas Day. In his video, Laver also brings up much of what George Washington and General Howe were planning for the coming winter of 1776. He describes how each general felt going into the winter and what their strategies would be during and after it.
In Laver’s video he discusses General Howe’s view around the beginning of December in 1776. Since there have not been that many American victories, he assumes that the rebellion will be short and decides to garrison his troops for the winter.
