That is a great idea! Ew!” it explains why some people include insects in their diet, while others believe it is repulsive. To begin with, many Americans are unfamiliar with entomophagy. In the article, “Would You Eat This?”, author Kristin Lewis states that “our country doesn't have much of a system to support farming bugs” (24). Therefore, America, as a nation, does not embrace the consumption of insects and therefore does not have access to the necessary equipment. Since it is not widely accepted in America, people would have to visit other countries to enjoy it. In the paragraph “Survival Tool” it argues that “disgust helps you steer clear of stuff that can make you sick” (Lewis 26). With this in mind, many people will not consume food that they believe could possibly make them ill.
