An American author and screenwriter, Ray Bradbury, in his essay, “Zen and The Art of Writing,” focuses on the joys of writing and the Zen-like state needed to succeed. Bradbury breaks down his own idea of Zen in his writing process by asking himself, "Now while I have you here before my platform, what words shall I whip forth painted in red letters ten feet tall?" (Bradbury 139.) Rather than focusing on the mechanics of putting the exact red letter on paper of his essays, Bradbury’s red letters are found in the celebration of storytelling. Imparting lessons he has learned over the course of his exuberant career, Bradbury inspires with his infectious enthusiasm in his writing.
