The tasks that a president must perform and delegate successfully are crucial in solidifying an effective and proactive team. A presidential title coincides with strong leadership skills and correct behavior for the task and team. In my personal experience as president of Human Environment Animal Team (HEAT) I amplified my organization’s success during a large humanitarian fundraiser by utilizing a charismatic leadership style while behaving in directive/achievement and participative/supportive styles, yet I could have avoided faults in the fundraiser if I used less directive/achievement behaviors and engaged in servant style leadership to amplify team work and the effectiveness of the fundraiser. As the president of the organization, I had to involve all leadership behaviors, unlike the team members who had less responsibilities. While leading, I had used a charismatic leadership style, my default leadership style, for this event. Moreover, I reiterated the importance of the fundraiser’s mission statement to the team members to maintain their energy level and stay involved.. High energy is important at all HEAT events as it positivity is written in HEAT’s mission statement, thus reiterating that charisma is an important and effective trait to have while in a leadership position in HEAT. Furthermore, during the initial planning, I used the charismatic leadership style while I continued to state to the team members how well the event will turn out if the team stuck on path with the ideal plan. This continuation of the end goal was effective as the members were able to execute the vision I had idealized in the beginning. Furthermore, my charismatic leadership style was also paired with participative/supportive behavior in the initial stages of planning. I was supportive and thoughtful to each of the team member’s ideas and concepts that they wanted to execute during Cupcake Wars and aided them into properly planning their own ideas. Encouraging the team to brainstorm and work collectively amplified the amount of ideas we had and we were able to brainstorm more efficiently. This behavior style I utilized eased members into practicing their own leadership skills as I encouraged and delegated team members to taking charge of small sub projects within Cupcake Wars such as monitoring transactions, buying food, or being in contact with the participants.
