2a) Text 1 : Underground Railroad. Text 2 : The Civil War: Underground Railroad
I am going to compare the two texts above to find out what they are about, and what type of audience the text is for.
Text 1 and 2
Text 1: This text is about the Underground Railroad which was a movement of people who escaped from their masters and the people who where helping them. We are being told facts from the texts so the interaction is not very personal and here is an example from the text “The network of routes extended through 14 Northern states and “the promised land” of Canada–beyond the reach of fugitive-slave hunters.” The mode is of the text is that is describes slaves and their way to freedom. The purpose of this text is to inform people who are interested in history to know the facts.

Other clues are the people that are mentioned in this text like Harriet Tubman, and George Washington who was the president of the United States during this time.
Underground Railroad has a high lexical density, and the text is structural and formal. Here is a example from the text “Estimates of the number of slaves assisted vary widely, but only a minuscule fraction of those held in bondage ever escaped.”
Text 2 : The second text is also about the same topic which is Underground Railroad, but the main difference is that this text is aimed for another type of audience as the interaction here is getting more personal with the reader here because of the question marks after the the introduction and throughout the text. Here is an example “Was it a railroad? The Underground Railroad wasn't really a railroad.” This is very different from the first text where the writer is only stating facts. This text is also written, but it seems more connected to the crowd like the writer is trying to read a story as you can see below.
“Was it dangerous?
Yes, it was very
