“Murder is the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another” (Oxford Dictionaries 2017). There are murders that take place every day and night. The most poignant are the unsolved, given the murderers could be walking free. One example would the tragic death of six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey in 1996. The case has never been solved, but evidence strongly supports John and Patsy Ramsey, JonBenet’s parents, are guilty of this crime.
JonBenet’s body was found in the basement of her home with many clues hiding the truth. For example, when JonBenet was found, her body “was covered in her white blanket” (Penman 2017). This could have been very significant given the blanket belonged to JonBenet. This is important because it can show compassion …show more content…

For instance, the DNA found on JonBenet does not match the Ramseys, but the crime scene was undeniably staged. Becker, the head investigator said, “The rest of the scene we believed was staged, including the vaginal trauma to make it look like kidnapping/assault gone bad” (Brandon 2016). If the crime scene was staged, the DNA evidence is not valid. In addition, although the DNA was not from a Caucasian, it could have been preexistent. It became clear that “the unknown male DNA could have come from a factory worker where the underwear was made because JonBenet’s underpants were right out of the package- brand new that Christmas” (Casarez 2016). Even though the origin of the DNA does not match the Ramseys, it cannot clear them. For another example, Burke Ramsey was another suspect leading the investigation away from the Ramseys given the evidence of pineapple found in JonBenet’s digestive system along with the bowl of pineapple found in the kitchen with Burke’s fingerprints on it, but it could not have been Burke due to the fact he did not write the ransom note. Handwriting tests show that “both John and Burke were cleared of all suspicion of writing the ransom note” (Penman 2017). This checks off Burke. All in all, John and Patsy are still the most likely murderers even though there is evidence that supposedly cleared
