A rundown of Early Childhood Education (ECE) will be discussed in this paper. It includes when, why and who started ECE along with the importance of sending children to school which will all boil down to teaching children values and basic life skills for the preparation in bigger schools and in life. However, ECE is more focused on the preparation part since formal schooling does not begin until elementary. The value of education is introduced during the ECE period; making it suitable for children who in their early years act like sponges that absorbs and believes the things they perceive (Morrison, 1988). A child’s interest regarding school and education can be determined during the ECE period. Since as a child ages, there is a tendency to lose interest in education due to fact that schools, in a way, restrict students’ freedom (Siegel, 1991). This could be a result of lack of exposure and preparedness; exposure to early childhood education and preparedness in interacting with new people. Being able to attend early childhood education, children are gradually prepared for the remaining higher levels of education (White, 1966). Children will not be in shock when they see their teacher or are told to memorize letters and numbers since those concepts were already introduced to them during their
