The History of Sunland Inc. Sunland Incorporation was a production company established in Portales, New Mexico in the late 1980’s, the company was built on “70 acres of land owned by Sunland, Incorporated”. Sunland soon established itself as one of the nation’s largest processors of organic peanut butter. By using the Valencia type of peanuts, the company was able to produce, grow, and market approximately “240 different types of peanut products”. Samantha Rector”. Ms. Rector was authorized to control and maintain the quality of the products that where produced in the company. She was accountable for making sure all the products produced by the company meet with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) regulations. She also had the ability hire or terminate employees with the help of the HR (human resource) department. She was with the company for 11 years before she became the QC (Quality Control) supervisor, she was the QC (Quality Control) supervisor for the last 7 years. She report directly to the President and CEO and also to the vice presidents. The peanut butter plant manager was Mr. Weston L. Pierce, he was responsible for any and all operations that pertained to the production of peanut butter in the plant. He was authorized to terminate or employ personnel with the help of HR and had the ability to make financial decisions based on the peanut butter production. He also had the authority to shut down all peanut butter process if need be. Mr. Pierce was employed in his current position as the peanut butter plant manager and has been with the company for 10 years. He reports directly to the president and vice president of the Sunland Inc. Company. Ms. Toni G. Williamson, Accounting Supervisor she oversees all money related issues and reports directly to Mr. Ruddy Pearce which is the company’s Comptroller, she was with the company for over 15 years. The maintenance manager is Mr. Derald Hobbs, he oversees the company’s maintenance program, which was the personnel’s responsible for the maintenance of all company equipment and building maintenance.
