The Revolutionary War, Chickamauga War, all the way up to more current fights including Iraq War and the war in Afghanistan. With currently 7.1 billion people living in the world, fighting is inevitable. Solving problems through violence has been happening since the beginning of humans and will continue on as long as humans continue to exist. Continuing this basic trend is a conflict going on in the Middle East between the Sunnis and Shiites. With 87% of the muslim religion being Sunni and the other 13% being Shiites one group is going to feel more oppressed. Religion influences people to interact with negative actions due to the struggle for power between group through oppression with government imposed persecution, discrimination through the people, and wars performed by the military.

What better way to contain and exterminate a religious group other than oppressing them with fear through death.

People have been discriminating people of different religions in order to try and keep each other in check. In recent years the Iranian Human Rights Organization has confirmed the repression of sunni muslims intensifying since late 2012. It has been shown that Sunnis have been denied political, civil, economic, social, and cultural rights ( Sunni Muslims). It is simpler for the Shia people to only trust and support people of their own belief and make the Sunnis feel like their religion and beliefs aren’t as great because of all the negative effects it has on them socially. This makes the Sunnis less of a threat because they won’t be as willing or ready to fight their beliefs due to the mass discrimination they will continue to face if it continues.
