Introduction The Super Nintendo Entertainment System, also known as the SNES is a 16 bit Video game console developed by Nintendo. The console was originally released in 1990 in Japan under the name Super Famicom. The rest of the world didn’t see the console till 1991 in North America and 1992 for Oceania. The SNES was Nintendo’s second home console following the widely acclaimed Nintendo Entertainment system or NES. The SNES was a huge global success, becoming the best selling console of the fierce 16 bit era console war. It continues to this day to be one of the most popular consoles among collectors and retro gamers due to its many classic titles that shaped gaming today. TranDirect believed that not many people could afford PC’s back then. Trandirect planned to release a game cartridge that would allow user the ability to connect to the bank, pay bills as well as receive and respond to emails by connecting the console to their phone line. Different Models There were 3 main models produced for the SNES; Japanese, American and European/Australasian. The Japanese and European/Australasian model being nearly identical, except for the name change. The American console was completely redesigned and recolored. The American console also had its own unique designed carts.
