When making decisions people often refer to their own knowledge or to their own motivations to determine what is the correct decision for them to make. Supreme Court justices and the average United States citizen would make different decisions from each other because their own motivations and knowledge. Supreme Court justices are exposed to many different sources of information so they tend to favor their own knowledge over their motivations. The role that the Supreme Court plays in the United States system of government is to check, if necessary, the actions of the President and Congress. Their opinions on political issues are very similar to elected office holders. But they strive to make their views into a consistent set of principles to follow. Although this will not greatly affect how they express their political beliefs. So when taking their motivations into account their motivations are to make decisions and what is right. Their political views would not be factor in their decision making. It is the Supreme Court justice’s job to be educated and have knowledge on current political affairs. Many political affairs such as the Affordable Care act are often scrutinized for being unconstitutional. If the Supreme Court justices were to be uneducated and lack the knowledge of current political affairs there would be no reason for this branch. This is because if the branch is unable to perform the duty that it exist for there would be no need for it. Citizens of the United States lack motivation to be involved in any political affair. They do not feel the need to be active in the political world because it does not apply to their life. Instances where they might be interested are those that affect their life directly or indirectly such as the Affordable Care act or the election for presidency. A Supreme Court justice has a great deal pf motivation to uphold the Constitution because it is the reason that it exist.
