Living on a deserted island is new to these boys and finding a way to band together is important, but that will not last long. In Lord of the Flies, fear was easy to encounter while surviving on a foreign island. The boys were deathly afraid of a believed to be beast but they were never sure. Creating ways for the boys to lose themselves was easy, as they slowly lost their civilized ways. Ralph knew fire was crucial for survival as it could be helpful in many ways. Being stranded on an island with only other young boys, it is easy to turn to fear to and let it take control. Showing up in a place unknown to the group of boys made is simple for them to lose themselves. Hearing unknown sounds worries everyone because it could mean something bad coming, so they panic. After investigating to give the younger boys closure, no monsters are found. In reality this beast was only a figment of their imaginations that the younger boys, littluns, made up from what they saw in the dark. Even if this is all in the boys heads, an actual “beast” shows up but it is just a dead parachuting man stuck in a tree. Jack seems to bring out the savagery in all the boys, as they slowly began acting less civilized. Heartless monsters were made out of once innocent well behaved boys to bring out primitive behavior. Bringing out this in the boys leads to multiple deaths that could have easily never happened. Through this all Ralph tried to calmly put the thought of peace and being civilized into their young minds. Piggy and Ralph seemed to have this connection that helped make it easy for the two to be compatible up till the point Piggy passed. Making allies to defend against an enemy makes it feel as if you are not alone in times you may feel
