Surviving the Angel of Death: The story of a Mengele Twin in Auschwitz is written by Eva Mozes Kor and Lisa Rojany Buccieri. Kor was a prisoner of the Holocaust who was experimented on by Dr. Mengele. Kor is now known internationally for her experience within the Holocaust. Co-author, Buccieri, has written over one hundred books, several of which are award winning. Surviving the Angel of Death: The story of a Mengele Twin in Auschwitz, a biography, was written in August 2009 and published by Tanglewood Publishing in Terre Haute Indiana. Buccieri assisted in the translation and wording to make it comprehensive for young adults. Kor dedicates her book to her parents, sisters and those children who survived Auschwitz. This biography covers Kor’s experiences before during and after her imprisonment in Auschwitz, between 1934 and 1995. She explains how she was treated differently being one of Mengele’s twins that was experimented on. Her personal accounts exclude other events that took place during the Holocaust other than those that involved Mengele’s twins. A value of Surviving the Angel of Death: The story of a Mengele Twin in Auschwitz is that, “Eva writes the book many years after the Holocaust, yet her writing expresses great clarity and insight” (Scheimerman).
