“Making Sarah Cry” and “Susan B Anthony Dares To Vote” are very similar. In the article and poem, they both have the same theme of courage. In Making Sarah Cry, Sarah does not give up and continues to show courage and go outside for recess, even though she is being made fun of. In the passage Susan B Anthony Dares To Vote, Susan continues to fight for women's rights and will not give up, that is showing courage. While both the passages share the theme of courage, the mood in each is very different. In “Making Sarah Cry”, it is about kids and going out to recess, so nothing much could happen for a punishment. But in “Susan B Anthony Dares To Vote”, she could be arrested, or worse, be killed. The two passages showed the theme of courage differently.

The theme is courage because Susan B Anthony fights for women's voting rights. In the article she said “ May it please your Honor, I shall never pay a dollar of your unjust penalty. I shall earnestly and persistently continue to urge for women's rights.” This is important because she stood up to the judge, who is a person of authority. That alone could have had her imprisoned. She fought for her own rights along with other women’s rights. That shows courage because she stands up for what she believes in, not caring what the end result might be. In the article it said, “But After the famous trials in 1872, she won and more support. Younger women rallied around her. They too went out and made speeches and handed out positions.” This also shows courage because she shows women it's ok to fight for rights that more people should do it, even though she could be arrested or be in serious trouble. This shows courage because she stood up for what she
