The element of suspense What is suspense ? a state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen . Suspense interests the reader / viewer . Suspense makes you think what is going to happen . Suspense will have you wanting to know more of what is going to happen . suspense makes you bite your nails and shake with excitement , suspense is a great feeling to have . The Lottery by Shirley Jackson ties in with suspense . The beginning of the story makes you want to find out what happens in the end. The story starts with kids playing with rocks but you would not suspect that they were going to throw them at the lottery winner. An elderly man comes with a black box , you draw a piece of paper and if on that paper is big black dot , you have won the lottery . When you hear the word lottery you automatically think of money but in this story , it is far from receiving money . All Summer In A Day by Ray Bradbury also ties in with suspense . The beginning starts out suspicious and kind of creepy . The story is interesting enough for you to want to watch till the end . Margot was born on earth but winded up on the planet Venus . Mrs,Wright's husband dies and Mrs.Wright act nonchalant about the whole situation . She did not shed a tear, act sad or anything . She stayed doing her daily routine as if nothing had happened.
