This paper is about the concepts of wellness and sustainable health care, how I, as an RMT can play a role with that process. The first place to start as an RMT is asking yourself, what is good health and how can I help have a positive effect on it? The World Health Organization says: “A state of optimum physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.” A healthier population can make more productive and positive contributions to overall societal development. Most BC extended health care plans recognize massage therapy and will reimburse some of the fees for massage treatments as it recognizes it as a health care service. WorkSafeBC often covers the massage therapy treatment of workers injured, ICBC also covers massage therapy treatments for those injured in motor vehicle accidents. The Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the RCMP fully cover their members.
