Dunbar Cave State Park has been a state natural area since 1973, when Governor Winfield Dunn bought the land. The park is named after Thomas Dunbar, who was the first to settle on the 110 acre property in Clarksville, Tennessee, along with his his family, in 1784. The grounds include a visitor center, three hiking trails which are all under two miles, ranging from easy to moderate, Swan Lake and, of course, Dunbar Cave. The lake is a mere fifteen acres, so neither swimming nor boating are allowed, however it is an exceptional fishing hole. As for the cave, it is more than eight miles long, making it one of the largest in Montgomery County.
