Responsible Products This first initiative for the company surrounded the key to the success of the company, the products in which we manufactured. The first initiative was called the responsible products initiative. Currently Garmin invest approximately three hundred and twenty five million dollars in the research and development to improve their products and processes. There were multi steps that were included in being successful. The first step that was rolled out by the company was the drive to eliminate and type of hazardous materials. By instituting these check and balances it saves multiple stake holders within the business. The key players that would affect this initiative would be the managers and engineers within the different segments of business. In order to successfully sustain this initiative there will be weekly project check that are hosted by the project manager. The project manager will be in charge of continually following up with the engineering resources to ensure that the team is always mindful of the hazardous materials. The results from this weekly project check will be sent out to the key stake holders for the project including senior management. This allows for clear communication across all the different segments of business. In order to have a chain of custody for this documentation it will be distributed via internal email through the Garmin network. In order to gauge success the company will look at the list of 260 products there are no the banned list of materials and compare that to what the products are being utilized. Garmin has developed a banned and restricted substances standard that is updated at least twice annually. Our standard currently prohibits or requires suppliers to disclose the use of more than 260
