Overcoming obstacles and challenges throughout life is rough, but I’ve learned that if I don’t believe in myself then I won’t be successful. Not one person can take no for an answer, and sometimes all it takes is to keep pushing forward even when it feels like there is nobody there to support or help along the way. Nobody is going to fight my battles, but I see that almost every successful person out there went through obstacles so no matter what I’m not alone. There was an accident at birth when the doctor hit a nerve, which paralyzed the left side of his face. Sylvester suffered being bullied, because he looked different and had slurred speech. He thought his dream of becoming an actor was ruined, since nobody would hire him with his speech issue. He became dirt poor and had to sell his dog for twenty-five dollars. It would’ve been easy for him to give up on his dream of becoming a lead actor. Especially when his car broke down and he had to live at a bus station for three weeks. However one night he became inspired and wrote the movie “Rocky.” Directors wanted to buy his movie, but wouldn’t let him act as the star in the movie. He told every person “no” that were interested but wouldn’t let him act in the movie. After searching for what seemed forever, he finally found a director that would let him star in the movie he had written. The movie was well received and his acting career took off.
