In Robert Kurson’s book, “Shadow Divers,” he reveals how a group of divers solve one of the last mysteries of World War II. Captain Bill Nagle owns the Seeker which is a charter boat that people can rent to take them to shipwrecks. Nagle is a world renowned deep sea shipwreck diver, because he pushes the limits on how far and where divers can go. Nagle has explored some of the most dangerous shipwrecks such as the Andrea Doria and Texas Tower. He has also retrieved various souvenirs from wrecks such as china dishes and the boat’s bell, but Nagle has massive respect for the history of sunken watercraft.
“Fish Spine” by Santiago Nazarian is the story in the life of Hau and him getting over his insecurity’s to give a gift to his love interest. The story starts out with Hau washing his hands trying not to get the faucet or anything around him dirty with the smell of fish. Hau believes he smells of fish due to working with his parents cleaning the fish spines. Something that he doesn’t want anybody to smell when they meet him especially a girl that he likes. A girl who Hau spends a great amount of time with always wanting to be more but not having the courage due to his fear that he smells of fish.

Who is Jennifer Kirby? I graduated from Bowling Green State University of Ohio with a Bachelors of Science in Education. I began my teaching career in Lakewood, Washington initially teaching junior high math before the district converted our school to a middle school and I became one of the 6th grade Math and Science teachers. After two short military moves, I taught 6th grade Math and Social Studies in the Fort Bragg community.
“Dorothea Dix was an activist, educator, and reformer” in the 19th century who changed the medical field during her lifetime drastically. Dix was “born on April 2, 1802 in Hampden, Maine”. During her early years, she lived with her brothers and parents in a small home. From time to time Dorothea went to Boston to stay with her grandparents because her family was poor. At age 12, Dorothea left home for good to go live with her grandmother in Boston due to her alcoholic parents and abusive father.
Did you know that in 1882 to 1968, there were almost 4,000 people lynched that were black and about 1,000 lynched that were white? In the twentieth century a muckraker, by the name of Ida B. Wells, reported on similar Lynch cases. Ida B. Wells was an African-American journalist in the twentieth century, also called a muckraker, who wrote articles about lynching and led an anti-lynching movement. She changed America socially, morally, and economically through her investigative reporting. Ida B. Wells changed America socially because her speaking out inspired African-Americans to raise their voices and to create new protests due to the strong influence she had on them.
Estella Pyfrom spent over a million dollars of her retirement money on helping kids around her area. Estella Pyfrom helped many kids who needed after school resources. Pyfrom is a retired citizen of Palm Beach County, Florida. Estella Pyfrom helped many kids who needed after school resources. She is a hero because she helped kids with her own money.
III. a. Maya Angelou was an avid writer, speaker, activist and teacher. As a result of the many hardships that she suffered while growing up as a poor black woman in the south she has used her own experiences as the subject matter of her written work. In doing this she effectively shows how she was able to overcome her personal obstacles. Her autobiography “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1970) tells the story of her life and how she overcame and moved forward triumphantly in spite of her circumstances.
Jane Addams The Progressive Era, 1890-1920, accomplished great change in the Unites States of America. Many reformers and activits demanded for change in education, food and drug policies, and most importantly the govermenet. The goal for the movement was the purify the nation. One of the main activits during this time was Jane Addams. Jane Addams is often refered to as a social and political pioneer.
Dancer, actress, editor, cook, madam, singer. Maya Angelou at the age of 40 was doing all of these things, and then at the age of 41 she became an author. I chose this person because I think it was interesting how managed to do all of these shows on broadway, and got to create a whole bunch of books herself. Many people interviewed her, about her books and everyone finds all her books inspiring, and everything else she does is inspiring. Another reason I also picked Maya Angelou is because she was one of the first black woman to have certain screenplays and be on different shows and sing.

Across cultures and civilizations, the sea has always been an important figure both in the benefits it provides in daily life and its presence in storytelling. In consequence, sea monsters have been important figures in myths and stories whether it be in 1000 BCE Babylonian culture, or in 20th century America. The Babylonian Enuma Elish and Disney’s 1989 The Little Mermaid both feature a powerful female antagonist, Tiamat and Ursula, respectively, and these two figures bear many similarities. In both stories, the female antagonist holds strong relationship to the sea, and has supernatural abilities that aid her in her quest to defeat the heroic characters in the story.
Life is a long journey in which we are forced to experience something new everyday. We have days of strength, days of weakness, days of honesty, and days of deceit. We are not fully in control of the what happens to us, but we have the power to choose where to go next. We have the option to be happy, to be sad, to be a leader, or to be a follower. Choice is powerful, without choice we would not have change-for better or for worse.
From the age of eight until her death, Sylvia Plath struggled with mental illness. Along with frequent therapy visits, she wrote poetry to reflect the many events in her life. She wrote about everything, from the things that brought her great joy to the things that drove her to attempt suicide. One recurring topic of her poems is her father, Otto Plath, who she adored until he died of undiagnosed diabetes when she was eight. This event sparked a lifetime of depression and anger towards her father.
